10 Hours at an Airport

It’s Friday, which means that my first week back to work after my holidays is complete.

Today was an interesting day.

It started at the airport at 7am. It was still dark. My goal for the morning was to shoot a ton of b roll of models of the airport showing the expansion and runway projects that are on the go.

I set up my Kessler Crane Pocket Dolly (which I absolutely love love love by the way) and got to work! It reminded me of another video I shot a year ago on a model train collector.

While trying to think of creative ways to shoot a model that just sits there, beyond awesome macro shots and dolly moves across stuff, I looked at the completed runway on the model and I got an idea…

I set up my pocket dolly on an angle so that I could dolly the camera downwards and towards the runway as if it was a plane coming in for a landing.  I really don’t think that shot could have been possible without the pocket dolly! It gave you that pov perspective. It looked so awesome!
